In 1979, a year before
his death, John said, " I don't have any hankering to be looked upon as a
sex object, a male, macho rock singer. I
looked after the baby, I made bread, I was a househusband, and I am proud of
it. It is the wave of the future, and I am glad to be in the forefront of
that".
John spent his life
being in the forefront of everyone else when he wrote All you need is Love,
Revolution, Give Peace a Chance, and of course Imagine.
He was ahead of his time when he staged the "Bed In" in
Amsterdam and when he returned his MBE award to the Queen.
A few days before his
life was cut short, John, speaking about Peace, said, "Human beings can
make a difference. Where there is life, there is hope".
